Well, the new generation of supercrosses has begun around here. Pontiac Silverdome is gonna be a rubble heap and Ford Field is taking most of the events that used to be in Pontiac. Monster trucks this year was way better layout than the Silverdome btw.
Anyway, for those of you who were curious. The main event racing was a little boring, although Chad and RC had a good battle. Josh Grant ran away with an uneventful Lites win. Who says Millsaps is the man? The guy next to me seemed to quiet down more after every lap went by without Davi catching up...btw I'm a huge Millsaps fan but never under-estimated Grant. Congrats to Josh, but he's way behind in the points.
The fo-fitty class racing was all in the qualifying. For those of you who were'nt there, tv coverage didn't even touch on some of the good stuff. In fact, Nick Wey (our local boy) had to go to the LCQ. Although he dominated the LCQ, the Wey fans in the stands were a little worried.
Also, the best part of the night was watching Tyler Evans punt this guy into the stands after some heated racing! Tyler was coming through the pack in the LCQ and went a little wide on (#90??) this guy making some contact. Tyler made a mistake in the next straight allowing #90 to "repay the favor". You could see Tyler's eyes glow red in his helmet from the stands at this point. Evans knowing he's not gonna qualify, he T-boned this guy all the way over the berm and through the next section of track! Then the guy stood up to him, even getting a little shove in. Gutsy considering Tyler is built like a brick you-know-what house. Awesome racing.
Ford Field is as high class as it gets in a big stadium. I drank Captain Morgan's and Grey goose all night. Club level seating gets treated with multiple bars and very good food. Expensive, but worth every penny when compared to the watered down beer and nasty hotdogs usually accompanied by such events. Also leather Lincoln Navigator replica leather seating in the club level make the extra couple $$ feel deserved. Cushy leather seats!! Also being downtown gives a little busier feel to it. More stuff to do afterwards. Great night and looking forward to next year. Although I recommend getting reservations for dinner if you plan on eating anywhere before hand, especially on a Red Wing's night! Go Red Wing's!
