Oh man, I took some serious ribbng from my 525 riding KTM buds last night after the first race in Nashville at the AMA Supermoto races.
First race the Red Bull KTM 450 spanked Jeff Ward, reigning AMA Supermoto champ's CRF450 bad. He couldn't do anything with them on the long back stretch on the Nascar-banked track. I was catching hell from the pumpkin riders around me. Everyone I ride with is a pumpkin-head except for myself and one lone DRZ holdout.
I guess Ward's mechanic's pulled some magic out of their gearbags before the second race because he came back out and put a whooping on those orange pumpkins like you wouldn't believe. Seven second lead at the finish. Oh yea, my buds were eating some crappy-tasting orange crow.
But the most impressive of the night was an 18 year old kid from Australia Troy Herfoss on a Husky. Man was that kid riding the wheels off the bike. He was running two classes so he had to be flat worn out by the end of the night and he still finished second.
Near the end of the back stretch that damn Husky 510 acted like he was hitting a NOS switch. It would turn into a rocket. Have gave the KTM 525's one helluva run.
Jeff Ward is my hero. Any 44 year old who can ride like that all night; Dahyum. I'm huffing n' puffing and in need of a rest by the time I get my bike unloaded from the truck.
The track was awesome. They had a chicane at the end of turn one that I would have had to stop, pickup the back of my bike and set it over to get through it.
