    Hesitation

    by Jay586 » Sun Aug 04, 2019 7:08 am

I have a 2004 450r, it has a youshimura trs pipe on it. It seemed really loud so I decided to open it up and repack the inside. Upon opening it up found very little to almost no packing inside, so I repacked and ordered a insert to to quiet it down a bit. Now I’m having hesitation problems at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle it bogs and then kicks in hard in every gear. Could anyone steer me in a direction to fix this issue? Bike ran great before. Thanks in advance

Has it sat for a while without running? That sounds like either a plugged pilot circuit or a gelled up accelerator pump reservoir, which is in the bottom of the carb bowl.

Has sat about two week before I was able to go riding.

So I pulled the insert out and completely fine, my guess Will have to mess with the carb

No need to "mess" with it, have a specific plan. Does it idle without the choke on? Then the pilot is working somewhat. I keep a stack of new pilots around. I think they are the number one cause of hesitation and poor starting. Don't try to clean them, just screw in a new one and that way you can rule it out as a cause.
Two week of sitting is nothing. I just started my X after sitting since April 1st, and it ran perfectly.
