I have just bought a CRF450R as a 2003 model.
The VIN number tells me the chassis is a 2008 model.
The guy didn't know much about the history, but mentioned something about it being rebuilt from a 2003 model, using a 2008 engine.
The plastics and seat are 2003, but I want to know what year the engine is.
How do i tell what year it is from the serial number?
The engine number is 2111138.
From what i have found here, 210#### is a 2003, 220#### is 2004 etc., but mine is 211####?
Anyone able to tell me what year it is, and how you work this out?

So 211 would be 2003 as only the first 2 numbers are significant.
You did say it is a 2008 VIN too, so yes frankenbike.

ive just bought a 4 speed 250 motor with an engin no MD 06806 MD just wondered if any body could give me the year,model of the engine and also the year model of the bike it would have been fitted into.
