Hey guys,

New here and picked up a 06'CRF450R a few months back. Just getting around to going completely through her, and making it dual sport/street legal setup. It had a engine overhaul right before the guy sold it to me, so I decided to go through everything else and add som stuff from michilen ac10 tires, all-balls bearings, race-driven brakes, trail tech speedo/flywheel/stator, boyesen waterpump, baja design light kit, hand/brush guards, etc.

I got the new flywheel and speedo on. Just waiting for everything else to get here.

Here are some pictures of my handy work so far...

I got a bit excited and ended up here, haha. I'm replacing all the bearings in it now too, ordered a Jagg oil cooler as well to get some more oil in her, and a high pressure radiator cap. So, the only thing left on the list of wants/needs is the larger fuel tank(around 3.5 gal) and some baja/dakar high capacity modded radiators.

FYI, those wheel bearings are the blind type... So, I had to order a special puller for that. $40 for one on ebay, not to shabby.

It looks sweet so far , its going to be a nice looking/riding bike when you get it done

Haha, it's a Chevy big block 396. Pretty much a boat anchor since the rear main seal lip is busted off. I've got a real bike stand coming though as moving that block around sucks! I had to pick it up by myself to get it in my trunk bringing it back from Nebraska. Thanks for the kind words though! I'm going to keep posting pictures of it all as it comes together over the next week or so.

LOL , i knew it was a Chevy , i was just guessing at the size since i could not see all of it since it is partially covered by the ........ Cargo Shorts ??? .... and plastic drop cloth ... ??? ....Ya gotta do what ya gotta do lol

The Baja Design dual sport light kit came today along with the renthal chain, oil filters, tire changing lube, and tools. I got the front light mounted, but can't really do much more until more parts get here.

Hey, while your in there don't forget to clean and service your CARB. It will be much easier with everything off and out of the way
Keep any eye on that Trailtech stator, they are known for failures...

If it does give you any issues, check out the BD or Rickystator. Both are well known and reliable.

Thanks for the heads up on the stator. The engine along with the carb were overhauled right before I bought it, so I'm good as far as that goes.

In other news more parts came today. The bike stand, Enduro Engineering handguards, and oil drain tub. I really like the handguards! These things are heavy duty!

By the way, the Jagg oil coolers are not longer available... I guess I'm going to have to go a different route now.

I got a bunch more parts yesterday. I installed the stator in the cover, but couldn't bolt it all up because I ripped the new gasketjavascript:emoticon . The gasket was vacuum sealed in the worst packaging they could've stuck it in. Just as I was thinking I was going to damage that gasket trying to get it out... I did. I wasn't really impressed with it's quality once I got it out, and just ended up tossing it in the garbage. Then I went upstairs and ordered a new OEM Honda gasket(should've done that in the first place). I also found a like new IMS 3.2 gallon tank for $150 on Ebay, so I snatched that sucker up. I'm really debating on buying a new wheel set for it too.

More parts again today! The mounts for the mirrors came and I put them on. Mounted the new tire to the rear. I'm waiting on the new tube for the front, but I took the old tire off to have her ready. Installed one of the new brake rotors on the rear wheel too. The Boyesen water pump came and is now installed. That thing looks sharp, and will hopefully help keep her a bit cooler. Last thing I did today was drill the holes for the rear tail light assembly. It was a pretty straight forward install. Lastly, I'm set on getting new wheels in two months. These ones will just have to get me by for the time being...

You know I was thinking that to myself earlier that this rear tail light was going to only take a few good wackes and be done for. Thanks for the heads up on that other setup!
