Stock or experience for valve clearances???

    2006 CRF450R

    Hi all.

I didn't 'post' regarding my hard to kick, hard to start problem as there are a number of posts on the subject.
I'd like to thank those people who mention using the 2nd line on the flywheel to help set up the cam wheel and valve clearance.
Sure enough, I was a tooth out..

My question to you experienced 4 stroke engine guy's is, do I stay stock on valve clearance and decompression OR do I run a fraction tighter on exhaust clearance? (i've seen 009" mentioned).

I've just fitted JD jet kit, AP mod and No Toil Sure Flow filter and what a difference. Should I be happy with it now or should I keep tweaking??

    Thanks again..

you can run a bit tighter but not much. remember when the motor gets to operating temps the gap will decrease. there's no reason not to run the stock specs.
