Heli Coil or Tap New threads?

Can anyone help me with this? I over tighten a bolt on my right side crankcase(after installing my new Rekluse). How should I proceed, Helicoil or tap new threads? Any help greatly appreciated.

I would go Heli Coil. I had to put on on my oil filter cover. Now, it feels more secure and tight than any crank case bolt. No leaks....works beautifully. 8)

what size did you use? The smallest I can find is 1/4"

Hey I just noticed your from the 'boro. Where do you ride? I ride mostly at westpoint. I will be doing the mid-south hare scramble series this year.

I am not totaly sure of the size. I took the bolt to metal shop in NV on my lunch break. The guys just handed me the Heli coil. You could always call Sloans and let them know what bolt you are replacing and they will be able to tell you over the phone what size Heli Coil to get. Sorry for the lack of help there.

Yes, I'm from the boro...I usually ride out at LBL, Woodbury, and Wooly's off road park. I mostly just recreationaly ride these days. Have only race a few hare scrambles. I love fixing up the bike though. I'd love to ride west point sometime soon. Not too familiar with the main loop but it is my style of riding.
