    need mechanical help please

    by fatbasser » Tue Sep 04, 2007 6:33 pm

hey guys its been a while but im in need of some help.
after rebuilding the motor at the beggining of the season with new valves and a stage 2 hot cam and a mild port and polish. the bike ran wonderful up until a week ago. the last time out the bike would only start with bump starting it. i re-shimmed the valves to spec did a leak down test and the oil was bubling and air was escaping though the exhaust valves, so i replaced the piston rings and deglazed the cylinder. the bike started with two kicks, i ran it once and then the same . happened over again.
so i completely rebuilt the carb, everthing accept for the AP. currently im running a 185 for a main jet, 42 for pilot jet, 1 1/2 turns on the fuel screw. also i have a full yosh system and a twin air.
if anyone can guide me in the right direction that woul be great im really regreting selling my cr250.

i shimed the exhaust valves which helped the problem some what, would that be causing the hard starting if there is some blow by on the exhaust valves.
also, at 70 psi on the leak down test the valves would leak quite bad. thanks

Sounds like whoever did your headwork did not machine the seats or machined them incorrectly. You will need to re-do your headwork. You may be able to salvage your valves, inspect thouroughly.
