I have a friend from work who has been racing for years, and has changed the whole top end back to the 05-06. He says the 07 has a different power band and dosn't not like it at all, feels less powerfull!!!

    Thanks for the reply Mate,

I have a mate with a 2006 YZF450 , and he is of the oppinion that my red Monster pulls harder than his blue baby.... I rode his bike ... but i cant really tell .... they seem pretty even, its just his is a slightly more even pull through the rev range ... and mine bites harder ... suddenly,

It does not realy matter ... just loving riding it !!

The 2007 showed 1 more hp from top to bottom, and it does have a lot less of a "hit" than earlier models. It has several improvements to the carburetor , and uses the 450X sized intake valves, all of which make the bike very easy to ride, and yes, more horsepower.
By the way, Team Honda has been doing the 450X sized intake valve thing for a few years.

If he really did that he sure wasted a bunch of money. As mentioned, the only difference is the intake valves and porting, along with the carburetor. So, there's no "whole top end" to change, just the cyclinder head. All that to decrease the power .
The way a bike feels can be deceptive, that's why it'a good idea to do some homework before doing anything rash. Doug

    That race sounds tough.
What kind of terrain do you have in the South African bush, anyway ? What kind of tempeatures are you folks having in August ? Let's hear about your race :D
By the way, I've had the pleasure of being on Joint military manuevers twice in my military career with South African guys, and it was a pleasure.
Your people have a lot to be proud of in your country, from it's inception to presently, regardless of the BS in the media. Doug

The race .. is over mixed terrain ... with some mud, dirt tracks, rocks, thron trees etc

Its just a bit of a fun race ... nothing to hectic.

And with regards to SA .. its the greatest, love it .... I Scuba Dive, Hunt, 4x4 and ride Bike. And you are right the media is full of sh!t, we have afew little issues but we are getting our sh!t together.
