    Drive Chain Master Link Question

    by yoboom » Wed Aug 15, 2007 9:13 pm

Do any of you folks run the continuous style chain that comes stock of the “R” or can I run a standard chain with a “clip” style master link? The shop manual states do not install the clip style master link, only run the crimped on continuous style chain.

    thanks,

Don't worry I have seen the peened over links heads crack off as well as clips come off.

If it is done properly either stays on just as well.
I have used clips for twenty years and never had a trouble. Your also more inclined to remove and clean chain and sprockets properly if it comes off without having to move the axle.
