ALOT OF OIL IN THE CRANKCASE TUBE

    by NorCalDuner » Wed May 30, 2007 9:25 pm

I have always got a little oil in the tube ,like 1". Now after a top end rebuild I am getting like 3-4". What might be the problem?

Is it running OK?? Making good power??

If the rings didn't seat well, you would have more blowby in the crankcase, thus more pressure forcing out more oil. Just a thought.

The bike is running perfect, with alot of power. That is what is weird. There is no smoke coming out of the exhaust either. Could a breather tube be pinched or something and cause this?

Are your oil resevoirs staying at their correct levels respectively? If you have a leaky right side crank seal, it will create crankcase pressure.

Well, I just took my air filter off to clean it and I have quite a bit of oil in my air box as well. I am really starting to worry. My buddy said it might be because I am running regular oil in stead of synthetic. I put it in to break the new top end in, but I am going to change back to synthetic know. Can the regular oil be foaming? It is honda GN4.

Seriously doubt it has to do with the oil type, but anything is possible. As I asked before, are your fluid levels staying correct?

You need to plug up the hose from the air box and run the hose from the valve cover down by the rear shock by the carbs. vent hoses.

Well, there's a kit from Applied Racing and Tokyo Mods for that.. but you need to find out what's causing the oil to blow into that vent.

Could this be caused by too much oil on the engine side?

Last weekend I changed all the fluids and put synthetic in the top. We did a 70 mile trail ride and there was only a few drops that came out. So I think what happened last time was the high reving at the sand dunes. But I will still keep an eye on it.

:?: Hi I had this same problem with my old 05CRF250X took it in for the top end to be done and every ride after that oil in breather and all over air filter man I was getting annoyed with the mess it left me to clean up so I took it back to dealer and it had them stumped in the end all I did was not fill crankcase right to its full level and this problem went away, anyway I fixed it also buy stepping up to the mighty 450r!!!

when i used to own my 450 everytime i would go riding and hold wheelies for a long period of time i would get a lot of oil build up in the air box which was coming out of the breather hose just a thought
