    CRF450R Oil won't drain!!

    by redrider321 » Sat May 19, 2007 4:30 pm

Hey everyone. I started changing my oil in my 05 CRF450R and forgot to run the engine first. I thought I had gotten all the oil out and refilled using the BillyWho Motor Fill bottle which I have used before with no problem. FYI I was doing a oil and filter change.
To make a long story short, the oil almost ran over the filler hole before I had it all in!! In addition the new got dirty very quickly so I guess I didn't have it drained completely. So I sucked some back out with the bottle to the correct level in the window ran it for a few seconds and got the oil level correct then ran it for 3 minutes to warm it and tried to redrain the oil. Nothing comes out when I take the drain plug out! The window shows full so there IS oil in there. Anyone have this problem before??
    Thanks RR321

Did you get the right plug? Is the transmission empty?

Yep. My guess is that you are draining the transmission and filling the engine oil. Which plug are you draining??

You're more man than I. If it were me, after having realized I was draining from the wrong bolt, this would have been my response:

Hey thanks guys. Thanks for trying to help, you were all wrong. The counter shaft bearing modulater came apart and was blocking the drain hole. No worries, I split the cases and rebuilt the entire bottom end last night. "Wrong drain bolt," Ha, I laugh in your faces!

Anyway, glad you got the problem fixed. Considering this had a happy ending, can I get in one little, tiny chuckle at your expense?
