just recently, my 04 has been a bit sluggish when climbing. rode last friday when i noticed it first, cleaned the air filter and it rode great saturday. rode sunday and again it chugged a bit when climbing. cleaned the filter again, rode thursday, same problem.

i had the valves adjusted about 10-12 rides ago, and i change/clean my air filter every other ride.

any ideas?

Change your fluids, clean your air filter/carb out thouroughly, check your valves. It may be time for a compression test.

Does it bog on flat level ground too? Is it only on hillclimbs?

What is the jetting set up? Did it always do this? Has something recently changed? ie Temperature.

How far off were the valves? Which ones?

only on hillclimbs. i had the shop adjust my valves and they did both intakes and one exhaust. L In. at 145 was 172. R In. at 150 was 175. L Ex. at 232 was 228. i'm not sure about my jetting setup, besides changing fluids and filters, i'm not much of a wrencher.

Could this also be a symptom of a worn clutch?? it is an 04.

If the clutch was worn, it probably wouldn't bog down. It would likely be the opposite and slip causing the revs to "flutter" up and down. That and he'd start noticing the lack of adjustment at the clutch lever...

Plus it wouldn't only do it on hillclimbs. Anything is possible though...CHECK IT!

now i seem to have starting problems again, just like before i had the valves adjusted. could this bogging issue be a valve thing too, or are they two different problems?

by the way, this site has helped a greenhorn 450 owner out a bunch. so thanks for all your help.
