    transmission overhaul

    by CHAZ » Wed May 09, 2007 8:41 pm

I have a 2005 crf450r and I am wondering if it is possible to change the transmission to a wide ratio gear box like the crf450x.

I looked that up that sounds perfect. I just trying to make sure I am not wasting my time. This bike has had alot added to it for trail riding, ie bigger tank, weighted fly wheel, headlight, spark arrestor, new sprokets, break away levers. Would I be better off with a rekluse clutch or going with the baja design wide ratio gearing, or just sell and change over to the crf450x. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you've got quite the trail machine there. If it were me I would get the Rekluse and call it good. In my opinion, if you change the tranny you will kill the resale value. Put in a Rekluse and it makes your bike very attractive when you go to sell it, plus it will rip it up on the trails.

Thanks for the advice, it has been very helpful and after reading the reviews and the ifo on the rekluse I think I'm sold.

New man looking for the same thing

    by joxcole » Mon May 28, 2007 10:17 pm

    Hey all,

I'm new here. I am also looking for a way to get wide ratio gears in my 2005 CRF450R, but I want it to boost my overall top end for running down in baja. I am only getting 74 mph with a 15 front / 45 rear before I rev out. I am looking to get 90+. I can't find any tranny stuff at Baja Designs as listed earlier in the post. Can anyone help me out?
