    05 CRF450R Jetting help...

by Wayman Racing » Tue Apr 03, 2007 9:26 am

Hi guys, thanks for any help in advance...

I go my 05 a couple months ago and just added a Full Yoshi TRC Pro Titanium Exhaust and a K&N.

I noticed right away there was a power drop. I was at Sand Mtn (Utah) and I could tell I wasn't pulling as hard up hills and it seemed not to have the same power. Bogged a lot in 3rd where I used to rally

I opened up the carb last night to see what was in it and plan on rejetting.

    I found...

    182 Main jet
    48 Slow jet
Needle with red dot on top w/ clip on the 4th notch from top (assuming it is a JD needle)

What do I do from here?

I figure I should be running leaner than before w/ my stock pipe and airfilter. But 182 seems large for my elevation (4000-8000)

Also can I use honda main jets or are the JD jets different. If so can I buy them seperate.

I am after more power and better throttle response. I know my exhaust has a spark arrestor in it. Can I take that out and gain better flow?

Any suggestions appreciated this is all new to me.
