Hello, I am new to the forums and am please to meet everyone.

20 years young and dumb and love my 2006 CRF 450R. I havn't had the money to do any modifications to it until now.

The first and foremost thing i'm interested in getting this weekend is a clamp kit. And to be honest, I don't even know if it's a clamp kit I want. What I want to do is raise my handle bars up as I am taller than most motocrossers standing at 6'3'' What I found is Moose' Universal Handlebar Clamp Kit http://www.mooseracing.com/catalog.jsp?level1=1359&level2=1377&level3=1379&level4=1412&product_group_id=4434 that I can order at a 50mm height increase (approx. 2 inches) which sounds very sweet to me. What I was hoping to have answered here is, "Is this what I want?" Or should I be looking at other products. Anybody with expereince with raising handlebar height please do tell.

Next on my list is a Moose Airfilter, I had one on my '05 CRF 250R and it seemed to do well. I used the NoToil product for it's non-petroleum based air filter oil as it's much less of a hassle. And i'm sure you'll ask about my geography, and yes it can get to be very dusty and also very muddy.

And finally, I would like to pick up a re-usable oil filter, and I can't for the life of me find anybody that will swear to a product's name. What is the best reusable oilfilter brand out there for a 450?

Hi and welcome. I don't know a thing about the Moose riser kit. I am 6'6" and have much the same issues as you. I have raised my handlebars with the BRP sub mount, which allows the use of fat bars and also raises the bars up to allow mounting a Scotts stabilizer below the bar. That wasn't enough so I added the Pro Taper Travis Pastrana fmx bars (121mm rise). Another lift for the height. Lastly I installed the Fastway F3 pegs in the low-boy position.

I now have it pretty well adjusted for my height. I ride a 450X but they aren't that different from the cockpit.

I don't use the re-useable filter, but the Scotts brand is well respected here. You can pm Mr. Smith or Dust Devil if you are curious about them.

We also use the Twin Air filter with good success. We like this one because it has a flame retardant layer that allows you to remove the back fire screen to get better breathing.

I just want to double check, but this kit will simply allow me to raise my bars right? Also, i'll need to buy an oversized handlebar and cannot use my stock renthal bars for this kit?

Right to both questions. Before you buy your new bars, sit on the bike and hold you old bars in place to see if the height is OK. If not, think about changing to a taller bar. Better than that, if you have a friend that has the fat bar in the stock height, borrow his and try them out.

I had someone mention to me today that I could look into buying a bar with simply a higher bend, what would you recommend? Risers, or higher bend bars?

In my opinion, that is a very personal choice. If you want to go with fat bars like Pro Tapers, you will need to do something like the riser kits anyway. Certainly, if just changing your bar height would get you where you want to go, and there is a standard thickness bend that you like, then that is the cheapest solution.

I feel that the investment in the fat bars is a good one for durability and comfort.

Sorry that I can't be more definitive here.

Visit the company web sites , like Renthal and Pro Taper, and see what bars are available in optional heights and bends. Pay close attention to the sweep too. You may want more or less pull back than standard. Again, if you have friends that are not stock, look them over and sit on their machines.
