    Starting Problem....I need your help.

I just did the top end on my 05 450R but I am having a problem starting the bike. I can not kick the bike over, there seems to be to much compression. I've checked and re-checked the valve clearances and decompression clearance three times and they are all within the service manual spec. I ended up bump starting the bike and it seems to run perfect. However, once I stop it I can kick over with normal compression one time after that one kick it goes back to having to much compression to kick over and start up. It seems there is a problem with the decompression mechanism but I'm at a loss for what to look for.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Recheck your timing. Off by one tooth will make it hard starting but will run OK.
