    Stalling at low speeds?

    by moosecrib » Fri Mar 16, 2007 12:04 am

I have been riding/racing dirtbikes for years and recently switched to a four stroke(06crf450) I love the bike except for one thing, at low speed the bike constatly stalls out. Since i ride alot of woods and race hare scrambles this is a huge problem. I hope someone can help me with this cause i'd hate to get rid of a brand new bike! The bike has one oh about 3 hour ride on it and is bone stock...help please!

hey, I ride an 05 450r. I have the same problem, I find that its from the high compression she wants to stall. I ran a smaller rear sprocket and lug it around in a higher gear either second of third just takes a lot riding the clutch in corners and tight trails. I ride a lot of woods and scrambles havent had to change the clutch yet.. Th e other option would be the reckluse auto clutch, I havent tried one yet but I hear they work great. No stalling or bog. So it might be something to consider. Good Luck. and Welcome to the bunch.

Oh ya, Dont get discouraged yet. Once you get that four stroke dialed in you will love it garenteed. Its just a different style of riding. We want you to repost your views on her in about a month when shes dialed..
You will love it in time we all do. ;)

The low-cost remedy to your problem is a heavier flywheel or flywheel weight add-ons. They will mostly eliminate the stalling. A lot of guys here run them. Check the CRF's catalog. Ken's got em...

There is also the Rekluse clutch route. It's expensive, but almost everyone on here who has it, LOVES it.

Don't sell your bike, that's just crazy talk!!! #-o

I had this same problem and put a rekluse autoclutch on. Went to moab utah with my cousins who ride trials bikes and had a great time in the technical, very slow trails. The best upgrade I have done to date.

Turn the idle up a little,Like cruiser says.
with some time you will get used to it.

should I say USED to it or, is it USE to it,Or are both ways wrong
Can someone explain this to me.

    Get used to it
