just purchased an 04 450r, owners manual says to use pro honda trans. oil, yet bottle warns that this oil is only for two stroke engines. what's up with that?

Disregard the warning for 2 stroke only. It works great in the tranny. We use that in the 250X and the Maxima MTL 85W in the 450X.

As usual Mr. Smith is right. But Honda has 2 different trans oils one in the round bottle some use for 2 smokes and one in the rectangular bottle 4 4 strokes.

tjp - Any oil that does not have an energy conserving label or a sunburst on the back will work fine in the tranny. I prefer synthetics, but everyone's got their brand.

MotoMike - FYI, there is a Mr. Smith on this forum, and confusing ~ with Mr. Smith could be potentially hazardous... Hahaha...

While this is generally true, Mr. Smith is usually right and I'm honored to be confused with him. ( Confused as him??? As confused as he is??? Something like that...)
