What is your starting drill?

What do you mean, it`s hard to kick or you have to kick it a number of times for it to start?
If it takes a lot of kicks cold, just twist the throttle wide open three times and give it a good kick, if it doesn`t start, give it one more and kick again.
Somtimes if it takes a number of kicks cold it could be a sign of your intake valves have gone to zero and need shimed.
If it just hard to push down, check your decompressor clearance.
And please use letters instead of numbers when you type, it`s hard for some us to read that.

...I've found that I don't need to kick it real hard...funny, but ( with MY bike, anyway) a more "relaxed" kick seems to start it easier. My '05 450 starts MUCH easier than my son's '05 250...

hey i have had the same problem with my previous yamaha, and what i was told was. dont kick real hard, just go down till the kick start gets a little pressure then give it all you got. try that. just a suggestion.

Same with my '06. I think it's the same with most of them. There might be some exceptions out there.

Other threads on this subject have indicated that you cannot kick start any of them in gear.

My 03 will. Once hot it doesn`t matter if in gear or not, feels the same.

That's good to know. Apparently they have "fixed" that issue!
