    Dobent...this 450R is a beast!

New to the 450R forum here.....

Ok....so after owning my '05 450X for a little more than a year and riding on the track 80% of the time, I decided to bite the bullet and get a nice used '05 450R. Figured it would be a smart move, considering the above. This was the second smartest choice i've made in my life (Just in case my wife reads this, marrying her was the first smartest thing I did  )

I can't believe the gobs of power this thing has everywhere! And soooo much easier to handle. Light, handles like it's on rails, and get this....no bottoming out (clunk) over the jumps!

I do miss the easy button, but the trade-offs are well worth it. Is it me? or are this handlebars wider? I also noticed the front brakes are super twitchy. I don't dare grab a handful like I could on my 450X.

Overall, very happy with my switch. Get used to seeing me here boys, I'm an R rider now!

Welcome to the dark side Luke!   I spent about 1 hour on an X. I think they are VERY nice bikes...BUT...the R has stolen my heart also. That front brake is a bit "twitchy." You're right, you grab too much of that one and you'll be doing the Superman (without your bike.) :)

Glad you like that R , I sure as heck like mine.
I know what you guys are talking about with the front brakes, I've learned to just operate that thing with one finger.
Wait'll you try one of these with a Rekluse on it. Then you can't even stall the thing. Doug

    ****Newsflash****

The R and the X have the same exact front braking system....everything is the same.

So once again it's all in your heads......

    .
I wonder if the 07 X has the same extension on inside of the the front brake lever that the 07R does , because my 05 X lever didn't look anything like this one does. Doug

It could also be from the weight diff, combined with other factors. For one, I rarely see an MX'er with another 40-60lbs of shhttuuff on his back...

The added weight IMO would make for slower decel, but not the difference between twitchy and not twitchy.

Moe likely a difference in brands of pads or other related consumeable, although my understanding is that OEM honda pads are pretty good stuff.
