I am replacing my stock chain. What chain should I use so I dont have to put in spacers. Someone told me I need a thin width chain so it doe snot rub in the cases.
Thanks

Here's the rivet tool I bought.

I think you can also buy a regular masterlink that will fit the VT chain (at least that's what I have read) but DID only recommends the rivet style link with that chain. It is a bit more of a pain and a littel more $ but the only other alternative would be to get a regualr width chain and a spacer.

I took mine to a local KTM shop (before I had a KTM) and they riveted it for $15 for me (in case you're not interested in doing it yourself.) I suppose it'd be the same at a Honda dealer, but the ONLY reason I go to our closest Honda dealer is for "off the shelf" items. Don't know if the prices will be the same for you, but just something to think about.

i got the vt chain on my 450r,its a rivet yes but well worth it,doesnt stretch much either.or get the sprocket spacer.or flip the sprocket around if its new.

Another vote here for the VT.
That chain just lasts and lasts, and the lack of a master link has been no problem at all.
It did so well on my X that it was one of the first things I did with the R,and no spacers
