    250r vs 450r muffler

    by Plowking » Thu Feb 01, 2007 1:23 pm

I just bought a 2005 450r from a guy that owns a 05' 450r & 250r. Both bikes had there stock exhaust systems removed for aftermarket systems. The problem is that I want the stock exhaust system to my bike (450r), but he has them both and does not know which muffler goes with which bike. Is there anyway to tell? Is there a difference? :?

They do look similar. The 450R should be longer.

They might have part numbers on them.

    2005 250R P/N 18310-KRN-730

    2005 450R P/N 18310-MEN-670
    or P/N 18310-MEN-731

I own both. The 250 has the larger hole in the end of the silencer. Opposite of what one would assume!

    Hey Sammy,

You a Napa native?? Or a transplant?

I was raised in Napa, graduated from Napa High. Do I know you?

...Well, my name ain't really "Sammy", I just have an odd sense of humor. I graduated from Napa High in 1970 ("old", I know.) But I can still turn decent lap times and I really believe riding a fast race bike on a MX track slows the aging process on many levels..anyway, it just seems to make me feel good. Have you ever been to Marysville or Argyll Park?

Well my names not really Smith either!
Class of 83 here, I agree about slowing down aging, but it takes so much longer to heal when you do crash.

Never been to either place. We grew up on Partrick Rd. ( Browns Valley area) We used to ride in the vineyards and cow pastures. Every couple of weeks we'd ride the track and hills at Sears Point. Also the dumps down in American Canyon.

I live down in So Cal now and have stumbled upon riding heaven year round. Couldn't have picked a better spot.

Hi "Smith" Partrick's road is one of my favorite places ever...when I was a teenager/young adult, me and friends used to party up there...you lived there in the '80's...that was a time I went up there with my Bull Terriers ( 1 white, 1 brown and white) and we'd run up and down that road almost daily...shoot, you may have even seen us! Tall skinny guy with long hair and short beard running with 2 dogs. I knew a guy named Dennis that lived right on a turn near the bottom...his Dad used to be the Dean of Boys at Silverado Jr. High. I bought an old claw foot bathtub from a guy that lived next door to him in 1984. Ring any bells?

I lived two doors down from them. We had a Yellow house, white trim, big circular driveway with a pear orchard in the middle.

Dennis Kelly, his father was Austin Kelly.

    Dennis was a big "Deadhead".

We used to party up at the graveyard on top as well.

The bathtub was from either Cusimano or Massa.

    Small world.

My name is Paul Calassa. My cousins went to Napa High as well. They are closer in age to you.

Gratton was their last name, Ginny, Mary and Dave.
