    db's and arrestors

    by KO » Wed Jan 10, 2007 8:36 pm

Okay, I am thinking about going in some hare scrambles and what not this year. All the posters I've read state MUST be 96 Decibals and MUST have a spark arrestor.
Some of the posters say they will check AFTER the race, but what if they check before and don't let me run!!
How many decibals is my stock 2005? Did not see it in the manual.
What is the cheapest, legitate way to install some kind of arrestor? (Just hoping for some kind of end cap or something)

2005 450R Stocker. Couple of hand guards and a new Michelin Rear.

PS: I wish it would rain like a mutha and wash this stinkin snow away. Bring on the riding.

your stock 450r is well over 96db. the least expensive why is to install the Pro Moto Billet end cap. here's a link:

you'll need the silent insert to get under 96db.

I have one and it works well. I do not have the silent insert, but I leave the spark arrestor screen in. Not noticable power loss.
The only thing I did notice is the rivets that come with the kit could use a little upgrade. After a season of riding the rivets started coming loose. It could be the aluminum, not sure. But as a fix, I upgraded the length of the rivet and added aluminum washers to help distribute the load.

After quick review, FMF Q2, what's the scoop? Turbine arrestor with some sort of brag about 93db, is this good. The turbine type spark arrestor idea is sweet with no cleaning or burnout. How many hp. will this rob from my stock 50-hp? 1 or 2 missing, I wonder if it would be noticeable, I doubt no where but in long straights (Off road that is). Anybody offer something for a bit more money but of good value? A bonified beauty?
