Well, two ways to go on this one.

    Rebuild or Crate Motor.

The Crate motors are available, new about $3000

    Rebuild: new 490cc piston and cylinder/gaskets: $695

    http://www.crfsonly.com/catalog/product ... e9044ec534

new crankshaft and connecting rod: $281

    http://www.crfsonly.com/catalog/product ... 2343b63b1c

So for roughly half the price of new you can rebuild a beast of a motor and have the best of everything.

    Good Luck!

the cylinder walls are shot! the Piston busted through the wall and left two gaping holes. I definitely need a new cylinder as well. Somehow i lost all the fluid in the radiator causing the bike to obviously way over heat!!!! So bummed, I want to be riding right now!

The $ 695 price includes the cylinder and piston and gasket set.

Is there any other damage to the lower end? If not your in good shape, you can get a used piston and clinder off Ebay for next to nothing. I would take the engine out and clean it well to make sure there is no debris left in the tranny or head. If you only damaged the cylinder and piston your just damn lucky! If you buy an entire engine I'll buy the tranny from you!
