Hey Poway, good luck getting a CRF plated. Best luck is to buy one that is plated. Thats what I did. I saw an 03 that was plated and all Super Moto'ed out. But they wanted nealy 7k for it. That was in Encinitas I think. But it aint there no more. Just got to look around. I am glad I scored mine

    X or R

    by jamminjimmi » Wed Feb 17, 2010 6:42 pm

Hey Ken, any particular reason you used an R over an X? I just traded my R for an X, mainly for the lights and the magic button. I figured even an easy to kick start bike wouldn't be as cool as one that has the button especially if its street legal. I have yet to see one running around Houston.

mostly because this was built to be a serious supermoto bike so weight was the make driver for selecting the R. another advantage is there are great deals on R models.

Did you repaint the engine cases? If so, what did you use?

i have not yet repainted or powdercoated the cases. initially i wanted to powdercoat the case and the valve cover. i'm thinking now paint would be better in terms of heat dissipation.

Check into the ceramic coatings used on brake calipers...solvent resistant, able to handle intense heat, and a low R value. Perfect for engine cases...

I think he's looking for a high R value, and a low X value.

    right on motosicko!

actually i'm looking for low cost and high wow factor. ;)

@paul...i have thought about the ceramic coating but it can be pricing doing it for just a few items. if you know of someone that does this on the cheap let me know.
