BB450 was just checking to see if you had started back into it or decided to do something different?

Hey TDW, right now it is just sitting in my garage on the stand all clean ready to be broken down. The only thing is I am still mad at it/her. haha not to mention I have been working way to much to try to get money to get her back running again. I am also kinda waiting to hear back from 124 to see where he lives. Anyway I will start tearing it apart this weekend. I will let you know the damage as soon as I do. Thanks everyone for your help.

By the way, my old 2 stroke is looking pretty damn good right now.

Just so it's out there, it's not a brass coating. It's coated brass. Actually there are 3 materials typically, the main being brass. They take 2 soft metals (brass/copper) and coat them with a harder material like zinc/tin. This gives them a silver look, but the coating is very thin. If the oil film ever breaks down or is compromised in any way, you'll see a gold colored witness mark where the coating was worn through. Hence when a complete failure of the oil film happens, the gold colored shavings (particles of brass/copper)are found.

BB450 - I'm in Michigan. If you (or anyone else) splits the cases, there are some "automatic" replacement parts like main crankcase bearings/seals, timing chain, etc. Consider it "cheap insurance" since the cases are already in half. Keep asking if you still have questions...

Thanks 124 that is the kind of stuff I know nothing about cause I have never split the cases. I am about to spend a few hours right now and strip the bike down and pull the motor out and all that good stuff.

Got kinda of a tricky question that stumped me, I was taking my motor apart and I ran into the fact that I cant rotate the motor to get to the bolts on the cam gear on the cam, to remove the cam assembly. Anyone got any ideas?

Have you taken the RS crankcase cover off to see if the binding issue is in there? Pull the clutch basket off and see if it spins then.

Just pulled of RS case cover and and clutch assembly and crank is still stuck. I dont think the tranny is in bad shape cause the shaft the clutch assembly rides on rotates smoothly. What should I take apart next. I am like stuck on my top end because I cant get the dang cam gear off.

    Thanks
    Chris
