Well i think the good news is that its not a dealership. Its a "Mom and Pop" place in town. I turned my bike over to the "real life person" who would be workin on it. They are really nice people that will stand by there work. So im not too worried about the situation as far as the type of service im going to get. What i am worried about is the damage i may have already done.

Only one of mine went to zero, it would still start first kick. I went ahead and replaced just that one valve. A closed valve will ruin the seat if left too long and might break and cause lots of damage$$$$$.

Just follow the owners manual for removing the head, take it to a good shop that will cut the seat, and buy a valve, spring, and head gasket from service honda. A little over $100 and a day in the garage and your good as new.

A good tip to remember is once you have it at TDC you`ll have to rotate it 180 and remove that bolt on the cam gear, then back to TDC and remove the other. Everything else in the owners manual is very clear.

Well after all was said and done they shimmed it, it ran fine. I only put maybe 5 hours of run time on it since then. Well the next big weekend has come up and because of the situation i decided to check the valves again and the other valve was out of tolerance again. Well this time i have the time to do the shim myself. Wow that was easy and fun at the same time. Now the question is why did it go out so fast again??? who knows....anyway i was talking to the mechanic about the differences in Titanium and Stainless. Well who knows but i would think that the stainless would wear out the seats instead of the valve itself. Im afraid that things are gonna start goin quick. 6 Dollars for a shim and a couple hours of work is much better than 150 for them to do it. But if i have to shim valves after every ride.....thats not right. Suggestions????

I wouldn't push it anymore. 135 shim is SMALL!
You're about done. Order the stainless and be prepared.

I agree, and I'd get a new head and really have it covered. If not, make sure you have new seats put in your old head by someone who really knows there stuff on these bikes. Doug

Does Honda (or every make) shim the bike on the production line differently or do they all get the same shim sizes stock. The reason I'm asking is I'm doing my 2005 for the first time and my intakes are a little tight. I guess I have to measure the stock shims to know the size or are all the stock ones the same? If so anyone know what they are?

My exhaust were .010 (should be .011) is this ok or would you shim them?

My intake: one side was .05 and the other I couldn't get the .05 in and it's the smallest gauge I have. So I'm guessing 2 sizes on the side I can't get anything in?

They all come with the same size, don't know what it was. Sorry...

Your left intake valve clearance is at zero. 2 shim sizes would be suitable to get a clearance so that the proper calculations can be made.

I wouldn't worry about the 0.010" on the exhaust. It's in spec and those barely need shimming. You'll need valves soon (because of that intake at zero). Order the parts and be prepared to do the complete job.
