    Just an idea!

Hey Ken, maybe to help stop the spammers from posting on your wonderful site. You could have a sort of membership application that would have the potential new member answer a series of questions before he can join and post.

it's a good idea. i have them answer one question upon registration and that seems to keep most of them at bay. i'll have to look into this further.

    thanks for the idea!

    browsing for articles before posting

I feel that it is hard to find topics that you are looking for, after you post you normally find it. . . So my suggestion was if you would be able to make a selection of what kind of bike similar to what you have with the 250r 450r etc., then also adding a year so that it would put all the topics together of people that have the same bike. Which I think would be much easier to navigate, give additional helpful posts without having to search as much. Thanks Jim

The thing with that is, with the X series anyways, many of the bikes from different years are virtually identical. A problem someone has with a 2007 CRF250X would be something that could easily happen to someone with a 2009 CRF250X. You can already look in forums by bike such as CRF250X or CRF450R. I think the system works pretty well the way it is. I like to read about other bikes in the CRF family besides the one I own.

these are challenging issues to completely resolve. the search function is useful but does have it's own "personality". what i typically do is start with several key words and select the "Search for all terms" button and then select the forum to search where the post would most likely be. then i press "Search". if I don't find what I need then i reduce the number of search terms and search again.

also, you can also use Google to search our forums. preface your Google search with "site:crfsonly.com/forum" for example:

    site:crfsonly.com/forum valve job

hopefully these tips will help locate valuable information found in our forums.
