engine mount bolt breaking on 100

    by crf100rider21 » Tue Mar 14, 2006 5:30 pm

on my crf 100 the engine mount bolt keeps breaking after jumping the bike. I have had to replace this bolt 5 or 6 times and it gets kind on annoying having to buy and replace it all the time.

I do not jump the bike that big but it always seems to break
    anyone else have this problem
the bolt is on the very bottem of the bike running under the engine behind the left side foot peg goes all the way through

Are you replacing it with the Honda part or a hardware store same size part?
The reason I ask is a bolts tensile strength varies greatly.
I’m assuming your replacing it with a metric bolt. If so ensure it has a 10.9 stamped in the head as a minimum or better yet a 12.9. The 12.9 is an alloy steel rather than straight steel.

You do not need to get it from Honda. That said the Honda bolts are very nice Flange head hardware. If you have a Fastener shop in the area or even at your hardware store you can pick one up but just be sure to read the markings. Look for Metric bolts that have a min of 10.9 stamped on the head. If they have a 12.9 in your size that’s better!
