Hi, I bought my daughter a 2012 crf80 that looked like it came off the showroom floor it was so clean. It’s hard to believe that it is 8 years old. Everything was perfect until I noticed a slight rattle when she was riding it that didn’t sound right. The next day she was riding it and it stopped going into gear. It sounds and feels like it’s clicking into gear but when the clutch is released nothing happens. This happen when trying to put it in any gear. The clutch also feels normal. It’s not soft or hard to pull and doesn’t feel any different then when it was running good. I checked the transmission oil and it’s full and clean. Almost seems like some sort of a linkage problem. I did some looking around online but can’t really find anything that helps. Before I tear it apart, I figured I’d ask if anyone has a suggestion. Any help is appreciated!

Hi Jim and welcome to the site.

Make sure the gear shifter is tight on the spline.

I know this might sound silly but make sure the drive chain to rear wheel is still there. The was one chap who pulled his clutch apart until someone noticed there was no chain.

With the bike up on a stand or box use the rear wheel to drive the gearbox and see if you can feel the gear changes.

Do this to start with before pulling the clutch apart.
