My son just moved up to a CR85 from his trusty CRF80. He learned how to ride and even raced half a motocross season on it. I had him detail it completely 'cause I thought we would sell it through "cycle-trader" or something but we ended up trading it in. The salesmen, mechanic, and the owner told us they had never seen a bike come in so clean and gave me $1300 for it. I about fell over when I saw it on their web site a week later for $1699. I paid $1899 for it 1 year ago. The moral of the story is it DOES pay to detail your bike even if you plan on taking it to a dealer. Don't let people tell you it's a waste of time 'cause the dealers have their own detailers and enjoy your CRF80 'cause it's a great investment.

The kids bikes do hold there value well. I just traded my sons 03 JR50 on an 06 CRF80.
I paid 1,195 CDN 3 years ago. They gave me 1,000 last month after 3 years of use! In addition to a nice chunk off the MSRP of the new bikes. They told me they had never see such a clean used bike before.
I did pay tax on the 1,195.00 of 179.00. But this is almost wiped out as the 1,000 reduced the taxable amount I had to pay on the 80.

As an anecdote... 2 things I have learned over the years 'Never got to bed mad at your wife Never put your bike away dirty"
