    what size is right?

    by DocCRF-X250 » Thu Nov 20, 2008 5:44 pm

I am looking for a bike for my son, he is 11 years old and around 4'8"? last year I bought him a new crf-70 and he loves it and doesn't think he needs another right now. My problem is would it be better for him to get a bigger bike 80 or 100? He does not complain about the bike not going fast enough or that it is too small for it I am just curious what everyone thinks? He has only rode a dirtbike for 1 year. I also am worried that having to start using a clutch will deter him?

yer let him stay on the 70 cause if you might get him a clutch bike he might crash and may never want to ride again

i say give it a year and then introduce him to the 100 or 150 depending on how big he is by then. or ask him and see what he thinks. but if i were gonna buy a bigger bike from owning a 70, i would at least go 100. never 80 unless i got a really good deal on the 80. Unless it was a nice 2-stroke 80

I also would suggest waiting until he is ready and introduce him to the crf100. Great bike, very forgiving, darn near indestructible. The 80 is not a big jump in size from the 70, clutch and a 5 speed. My 11yr old daughter had been riding a borrowed xr70 for a while and it was perfect in size but i elected to buy her a crf80 so i could teach her to use the clutch and not loose any confidence. Good luck and happy riding :D
