    crf 100 fork oil

    by kevindepot » Fri Jan 04, 2008 11:00 pm

About to replace the springs and oil in my sons 100. What is the measurement for how much oil? I'm talking inches from the top with the springs removed and the forks compressed.

The oil level should be 8.15 inches below the top of the fork pipe with the forks fully compressed. The Fork Fluid Capacity: 2.8 +/- 0.08 US oz.

Talk about 2 different measurements! It looks like with the forks compressed they are only about 13" long.

i have an xr100 (same bike, diffrent year) and im running 20w at 4 inches below top while fully compressed.
8 inches is wayyyy to low.
i think hes talking about big bikes maybe.

Nope. Are you measuring with the spring in? Are you running more oil to stiffen the front forks?

the 20w is stiffening the front suspension.
the oil level i gotr is from socalxrs.com and its worked for me perfectly.
its a little stiffer than stock but its plush but resists bottoming.
i reccomend it for everybody with a xr100 or similar bike

My kid's not what you would call skinny and I'll be blasting around on it at times also. So stiffer is better.

im not what youd call skinny either.
so that will work good but make sure you put equal amounts in each fork.
