Vin # question

I was looking at the vin # on my 150f and the first letter (?) looks like a q however all the letters are capitalized except this one ! When I ran the vin # nothing came up so I replaced it with a 9 and the year , make and model came up. Is this strange ? I bought the bike from a friend who was having some financial problems due to his home catching fire and of course the title was in the home . trying to file for lost title !

Can you post a picture of the VIN on the bike?
Should be 17 characters long.
being Brazilian built first character should be 9.

The first number is a 9 however the 9 is clearly a 9 but the first one looks like a lower case q . there are two of them in the number . clear diffrence in 9 and q .

Just checked my 2004 and both the 9s look like qs. Does it have 17 characters?
Is the sticker with the vin still on the bike, it is just back from headstock.
