I need to replace a torn gaiter on my son's 150F and it looks to me like I need to drop the entire fork to do so, is this correct?

Any tips, or tricks, or things to watch out for when doing so?

You are correct. You'll have to remove the front wheel, loosen the pinch bolts on the clamps and slide the fork out to replace the gaiter.

Pretty quick and simple process.
