    150F or 230F?

by Padre Cristóbal » Thu Nov 03, 2005 5:27 pm

I'm 5'9'', 150lbs. I'm deciding on whether I need the 150 or 230. I'm an American priest in the Dominican Republic. I ride everyday to get to our 50+ chapels in mountains where roads are just being created. I face some situations of mud and roads that are impassible to vehicles. I've riden a '93 Yamaha XT 350 for the past year and its time for a new bike. The trouble I've had with the XT 350 is its weight. There are some places where I have to push it and at times its too heavy for one man to push out of mud or to heave across a ditch. Right now, I could buy a 230F enduro style (it has the headlight I need) or waite till December when the shop owner tells me the 150F will come with a headlight included. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.

I would get the 230 just for more power in your situations. Other than that its up to you. You are gonna be riding the bike, so its your decision. Possibly try and test ride each one and decide for yourself. Dont get me wrong, you'll recieve get information from this site but you should be the one to make the final decision. Good Luck...

Thanks for the reply. I'd like to take your advice. It sure makes sense, but would you believe it isn't the custom down here to test ride?
