    Changing/Removing Spark Plug

by chris holm » Thu Aug 07, 2008 7:01 am

Is it possible to remove the plug from the "hole of death" w/o removing body parts? We were able to loosen the plug but couldn't get anything in there to grab the plug and remove it.... so we just put it back in.

    We're obviously newbies at this.

    Thx

Hopefully you are referring to the CRF150R. The CRF 150F plug is on the side of the head and is somewhat easy to remove.

The plug on the UNICam engines is much harder and I always pull the tank when doing so. Leave the shrouds attached to the tank as they don't need to come off.

Yes, it's the UNICam. Thanks for the info...I was afraid that was going to be the case. I was looking for the magic "lazy mans tool/idea".

Simply loosten the spark plug then use a piece of tubing like fuel line and push it over the plug, finish unscrewing the plug and pull it out with the tube!

Thanks for the info. I've also found another great work around. Simply loosten the plug w/the plug socket, remove socket w/fingers, then insert a retractable magnet and remove the plug!

You can laso use the tube trick to get the plug started back into the hole without stripping out the threads if you use the right size tubing...
