    150F Mods

by Thumper Don » Thu Jun 16, 2005 5:00 pm

I bought my 14 year old son a 150F. He is very good on this and climbs everything I do on my 450X. He likes motorcross style riding more than hill climbing and would like a little more action in the bike to jump and wheelie. Any suggestions on modifying the stock 150F?

Remove the baffle from the exhaust and the snorkel from the top of the airbox. Then rejet for the increase in air. go to your dealer and order these parts:
Pilot Jet--99103-KPT-0XX0 (XX is the jet size, stock is 40, go with a 42)
Main Jet--99113-GHB-XXX0 (XXX is the size, stock is 98 go with a 110, 112, or 115 depending on your altitude and temperature that you ride at)
Needle Jet--16012-KPT-921 (some guys, me included, didn't like the results of this needle and went back to the stock needle with the clip in the 4th position)
While you are at the dealer, pick up a Hi-Flow Air Filter such as a TwinAir.
This simple and inexpensive mod will really wake up the bike. Best bang for the buck.

Your son sounds just like me... All I did was throw on a coat of forslyk, wwww.miedosoracing.com. This stuff coats your forks and as a result the stiction is removed and your forks work like a dream. They sposnored me, and so far it has greatly helped as far as stability and control goes. Also, for wheelies, buy a 12 t fron sprocket. It pulls threw mcuh smoother and gets the bike up quicker and higher. This is also great if you are looking to be doing a little freestyle. As far as anything else, buy a more free-flowing air filter, possibly a new exhaust, and definitely re-jet. This problem has occured much too many times.
    Good luck,
    Chris
