    stiffer suspention

    by motokid54 » Sun May 29, 2005 8:55 am

I have an '04 crf 150 and need a stiffer suspention I have been botoming out when jumpig whoops and tabletops. I hav heard that I can change the oil in my front forks or put washers in them and I think I know how to change the back but some advice wouldn't hurt.

I have the same problem with my 03 150...my shock absorber is broke and i have to get a whole new one..maybe you have the same problem..if your rear suspension is really bouncy and has no sag that is the problem most likely

bbr makes stiffer springs front and back and this will help significantly.

jets are inexpensive $5 or so...removing the snorkle and getting a free flowing filter will get more air into the carb...jetting it richer will allow more fuel into the carb as well...more air/fuel bigger bang factor...bigger bang factor means more power. the jets are in the carb and are pretty quick and easy to change.

You can get them at any Honda dealer (assuming they're in stock.) If not, they usually take only a few days to get them in.

Thanks for the info I hope I can order them today. I have already found a used thrust nozzle from a kid getting rid of 150 for a two-stroke  so it lookes like I can avoid shipping. Thanks for the reply

For a cheap / easy fix on the front forks, I got rid of that 7 or 10 weight oil they put in there and used 30 weight hydrualic fluid. Slows both the compression and rebound. May not work well in cold weather, but I'll cross that bridge this winter.

I rode at Turkey Creek MX no long ago and had the same problem with bottomming out but on the whoops and doubles. The guy who is a co-owner of it Steve works for Pro Action and he is the only franchise in the southeast except for florida and N.C. He told me he could rebuild the suspension completely, fluid, springs, etc. But it's gonna cost $400. But, I'm gonna do it anyway so wth ya know.
