Hey my names chris Im new here and pretty new to dirt bikes but im looking for a bike to buy. I think I like the Honda CRF150F alot, Im only going to be trail riding.

I am 155 pounds
5'10
16 years old.

The dealer wants to sell me the bike for 2600 which is a good deal however when I went to buy it the dealer guy tried to start up one of the bikes for me and it wouldnt start. I was like oh great ....

crfguy150....consider that you are 16 and already 5'10 155lbs. You might want to move to the 230 as a starter bike...it's very user friendly and great on the trails. I never rode bikes until I bought my 230 and I have no regrets. Plus my 230 brand new was only $2999. What ever you choose, good luck.

crfguy150...first, welcome to crf's only! wade is right on with his suggestion. if you are going to be trail riding and with your size you'll love the crf230f. the e-start will be you best friend as well as the extra power once you get ready for it.

Haha thanks alot guys but Im worried the 230 is alittle too tall and has alittle too much power for me....I thought maybe I would just throw some mods on the 150 and that would be that

It all comes down to which ever one you are most comfortable with. Just remember that after a month or so you might be wishing for the extra power of the 230 if you get the 150. I am not trying to say go one way or the other but just consider two or three months down the road. Go to your local shop and try them both on for size...I think you might be surprised.

Also forgot to tell you...The power of the 230f is not to much for a novice rider, I ride the trails out here in Mo. with mine and it is awesome.

hey thanks but you know what sucks! at my local shop you arnt allowed to ride them before you buy them! it sucks so bad...they have a thoery on like guessing and buying and stuff...its totally lame because now ill never know haha

the power will NOT be too much. You'll have to trust us I suppose...but it's very predictable and rolls on smooth. lastly, you are in control of the throttle...which means you control the amount of power you want.

OH! also I feel like a real newbie asking this but what is this i keep hearing about how removing the "spark arrestor" is a must? if anyone could help me out by telling me what it is , where its at, why to get rid of it, and how

Power is a funny thing! When you have it, you don't have to use all of it. But when you don't have it, it's difficult (if not impossible) to find! It's better to have it and never need it then to need it and not have it. Buy more then you think you need - you won't regret it! It may be a little too much now but it won't be in a year or two... If you do end up going with the CRF150 look into swapping out the chain and sprockets - It'll save you like 3 pounds and give you a few more ponies. I think Sidewinder sells all the parts to make the swap.

Choose a bike and then worry about the mods, they will come with time. You got to crawl before you walk.

Took out my 150 today for the first time. I just learned how to ride it yesterday, I have a stick shift car but its not really the same i accidently poped a wheelie and killed myself haha it was alot of fun though. Its actually really fast and i cant wait to hit the trails, thanks for all the help guys!
