The Right Tools For The Job

    by '04crf150f » Sun Feb 27, 2005 5:18 pm

Does anyone know what all tools I will need to work on my bike. I mean, I already have a lot around the house but mostly carpentry tools because my dad used to work on houses part time and I want to just get my own stuff to be able to take with me and leave his stuff alone. Last night I took off all the plastic the seat and the airbox and all I need was a set of sockets, a drill, my knife, and some wrenches. Besides allen wrenches and screwdrivers, what else would I need for my bike. :?:

chase.. any metric tools. Tool sets come in standard sizes like 1/4 1/2 3/8 or metric 10mm 11mm 12mm, or a combination of both. Your bike, and almost all other bikes are metric. Metric sockets and wrenches are needed to do most minor repairs and maintence, as well as a torgue wrench one that measures ft/lbs. Special tools like seal drivers, feeler guages, in/lbs torque wrench and such will be needed in bigger jobs like rebuilding engines. I got my first tool set when I was 12 and have been adding to them since. If you buy tools or ask for them for Christmas ask for a good brand name with a life time warrenty (like craftsman) and not cheap ones (like Wall Mart). This way you will have them forever.
