just go out there and have fun! seriously...don't get too caught up in the "race" part...just start and finish and in between have fun.

    ok...here's some other advice:

    1. make sure your fuel petcock is ON. don't laugh...this is often overlooked on a first race.

    2. make sure you know where the first turn is and which direction you'll be turning. this is VERY important just in case you get the hole shot and are LEADING the field to the first turn.

    3. DON'T ride over your ability. if your current skill level isn't enough to run up front than back off to a safer pace and use it as a gauge for practice.

    4. TURNS. races are won and lost in the turns. practice turning and your lap times will increase.

    5. back to having fun...make sure you have lots of fun.

good luck and let us know how it goes.

I hope like hell you are better equipped than in that photo! Man, don't ever ride without the proper gear.

Like Ken said, just run your pace, have fun and try to finish. A large part of racing is mental. You have to ride "within" your self and your abilities. Work at it and the speed and success will come. Try to keep to your lines and not wander all over the track.

    Good luck!

i didn't even see that picture. i've got add something to my list:

    6. ride with the correct protective gear. if was was the race organizer i wouldn't let you ride with skate shoes and shorts. other than that...great looking corner skills.
