Hi Samanjo,
Sorry for delay had to do a bit of work when I first got back.
If you change your oil regularly you will find the slinger filter stays pretty clean.
Have seen 10 year old XR200s with little residue.
If you wear a clutch out you should clean it out at the same time.
You have to take it off to get to the clutch anyway.
If you clean it now it should be good for a year or two at least.
This shows you the insides and the torque figure for the slinger screws.
WARNING: from the factory they were put in dry and pretty tight.
Use a JIS screw driver NOT a Phillips or you will strip the heads for sure.
An impact driver with a well fitting bit (Pozidrive can work) is useful in getting a good grip only - NO HAMMER.
Be very gentle tightening them back up if you don"t have a low value Torque driver so they don't strip the housing.
If you do kill the heads of the screws three metric allen screws can be used to replace them.
Some people order the 3 screws when the order the gaskets.
You will need the Clutch side cover gasket as well as the Slinger gasket.
If you can afford the Socket tool to remove the slinger base it will be easier to clean separately.
This is the same tool for the Clutch hub nut and is used on lots of the small XR and CRF motors. Think it does steering stem as well. So pretty useful.
From memory it is the larger end of the factory tool.
After market ones are available.
Hope that helps and if you have further questions just ask.
