CRF 230F suspension improvements

I have a 06 CRF 230f, that I like and enjoy riding with my son, all stock other than a CRF'S only power up kit which improved the bike quite a bit, I would like to make some improvements to the suspension without breaking the bank, maybe 500.00 total for front and rear, we mostly do mid speed trail riding and hill climbing, with riding gear I weigh about 195-200, so as we have started going faster the suspension has started to show its shortcomings, any suggestions?? Thanks

Hi,
Is it just you who rides the bike or do you share with your son?
If only you then probably the best bang for that money would be springs to suit yor weight and cartridge emulators for the forks. Remember the emulators take up 19mm of spring height so the spring may need to be shorter or extended caps fitted.
Make you have the sag set up properly first and get some height measurements before you go changing things. Have a look in the crf230 suspension parts available to give you some ideas.
It may be better to save a bit more and get a replace shock/spring that will do a better job. Depends how much riding you do and if you wish to upgrade the bike in the future.

It is just me who rides the bike, he has his own bike, I have the rear sag set at 3 inches, I talked to my local shop today and he has ordered me some emulators, said he has installed them on several vintage style mx bikes and he told me they work great. So now I am toying with the thought of a new rear shock.
