I got a new cluch pack for my daughters 230f. As it is the cluch has very little engagment at the end of the lever. I have adjusted the free play and its still at the end of lever and very little, kinda all or nothing in a short distance of lever travel.

Anyhow got the side cover off and noticed it doesnt have the normal hex head bolt holding the hub on and you have to take it off to get the outer pressure plate off. Also to remove the pressure plate it looks like you have to remove part of the oil pump assembly and it also has the 4 prong nut on it.

Any one care to offer me some tips and where to get the correct socket for this project?

These nuts are used on most small Honda engines, and somewhere else on this bike.

Check with ken(Site/shop owner) to be sure.

The Honda tool has a 24 and a 20mm end.

You still will need a clutch centre holder of some kind.

Tools and a good manual will save you so much you can afford to buy the parts you want.

I assume you have ensured the cable is lubed and free moving. Do the easy things first.

Yes I actually took the whole bike apart when I bought it a couple months ago inspected everything packed all bearings lubed all cables re jetted it exc.

It is a tool like that but that one is 20mm I measured across the flats on the nut and it was around .910 in so that would prob be a tool with 23mm ID.

Ausiecrf is correct. Go to Motion Pro's website and search by your bike, then tools. They show it as the one for the clutch and oil.

I think its going to take the MotionPro 24mm one. I have not found it in the store here but MotionPro makes it.
Ken do you guys have that tool?

what year is the bike? I pulled up an '08 on the MP site and it shows the 20. A buddy made one for his kids 150 and he ground out an 18mm socket to get it done.

It is an 08. Im leaning more towards a 24mm because it measures .910 IN across the flats on it and 24mm would be .944 IN

The tool distance is the Pitch circle diameter of the lugs from memory. So I think the 20mm end will do.

Replace clutch nut when you do it as the manual says to "Stake the lock nut into mainshaft groove".
If you reuse the nut the previoulsy staked part will line up and restaking may result in some part breaking away.

The oil filter rotor nut should be able to be reused OK.

Part # 08-0015 24mm I think is for oil filter, have a look and see if different size.
The 20mm is ID so will go over shaft.

My CRF230 manual says Honda number 07716-002020100.
Visit Yeltrik site for the nut and order both from Ken, combine freight, job half done. You will still need a centre holder and maybe a gear jammer (Worn front sprocket works).

Both of them are the same size.

Got the 20mm tool and it is way too small. I should have the 24mm one tomorrow and it should be the one.
So for the next person changing the clutch on an 08 crf 230f you need the 24mm to get the clutch hub nut off.
