Muffler/Silencer

I took my silencer out of the muffler to make it sound better and to increase some power also.
I just have a question: Is that going to affect my valves or jets? Is it going to make my bike run leaner? And what do i need to do so i dont mess up my bike? If there will be a problem.
Thanks Mike. :)

Did you actually notice the power gain ..........or just the noise

It will make it run leaner. Do the power up mods first.

16012-KPS-921 Needle (Includes Power up needle, Clip, and needle jet)
99113-GHB-1320 Main jet (Where 132 is the jet size)
99103-MT2-0450 Pilot jet (Where 45 is the pilot jet size)

I actually put a 48 pilot in mine.

Then pull the snorkle off of the air box and remove the baffle. Starts easier and you will notice some gains. You will "walk away" from a stock 230. There is some great "how to" articles if you google for it. Below is for 2003 - but works for all years...

So will it hurt the engine if it runs a little bit leaner? Or should i really adjust the needles and the jets?
I just dont want to blow up my bike.
Thanks, Mike :)

Running leaner makes it hotter - which can ruin your engine. Check your plug. If it is a nice tan color - it should be OK. Not recommended to remove baffle or snorkle without rejetting. Do the power up kit. Worth the $30 bucks. They start so much easier than stock and there are performance gains.
