    vertically challnged solution

I had the opportunity to visit with Gregg and A.J. from Service Honda with my mom this weekend at Gorman. They had extended an invite for her to check out their new junior X and junior R bikes. These machines are mounted on 150 (for the R) and 85 (for the X) frames so they are lower to the ground but the real deal is the engine. The boys managed to pack a crf 250 X or 250 R motor into this little area. The result is a very nimble and really hard hitting machine. They had one sprung for a 200# rider and I reluctantly traded my 450X for a ride on their junior R. This little machine is powerful and almost too nimble (remember I ride a 450X). I was forced to ride the tank to keep the front end down and I am not a lightweight. These guys have got it right!!! Shorter riders or gals that need a smaller saddle with race quality punch will love this little ride. This bike may very well end the question of 230 vs. lowered 250.
My thanks to Gregg and A.J. for a test ride on a wonderful machine. :P

You forgot to mention the price...

I don't think at nearly $ 10,000 you are gonna end that debate.

the price is 7999.00 which is more than that of a 250 X or R but consider how much you will spend in lowering cost revalving shocks, kouba link and other mods it seems like a fair deal for those who want a little kicker. I am not implying that it will end the debate but it is another option. I may not be anyone of high moto stature but I was very impressed with their efforts and feel the little bike has great potential.

You forgot to mention that the junior X only weighs around 180 and the junior R about 20lbs less. I think the X was lighter than 180 because I picked it up off the ground with no effort at all. So add the cost of a lighter frame to the modified 250x and I think it's a fair price. I had a blast riding these bikes for hours. When do you ever get to test drive a dirt bike? That's Steve in the yellow and the junior R took him for a great ride. We did rocky sandy whoops, packed dirt hills, sand washes and some curvy single track all with great power and handling. If you big guys ever get the chance to ride these bikes you will be very surprised.

AJ ...sorry I bent your handle bars but part of the test drive was to see if the bike could handle me!!!!

We declined to ride the 500, but the guys that did came back to ride the Juniors. We left about an hour later and they were still riding the Juniors.

So let me get this weapon formula right.

    A 250 motor into CRF150/CR85 Frame.

A tweaked CR85 is a missile, this would be a WoMD and too much fun.

It starts,it runs,it gets to where all CRFs can get to without the valve or valve plate dramas

I am a 230# guy and in 3rd gear I was having difficulties keeping the front down. It is nimble and feels almost like a mountain bike on steroids under you. This was a fun bike to ride. I even opted to only try it and not the 500 2 smoke only because I know that I would have to dip into the bank account, fishing fund and other sources of finance to buy it. unfortunatly , I think this little bike would gather more attention in the campsite than it's bigger brother and with more bottoms on its seat too. If finanaces are not an issue this little rocket would make a nice addition to the stable.
