    kickstarter?

    by fwsteal » Sun Apr 01, 2007 12:38 pm

Why isn't there a kick start option on this bike?

Isn't that kind of like asking why my chevy suburban isn't supercharged?

In reality, I am sure it is a $$ saving feature for the factory. My son rode a 230 for a while. It never caused and issue, but it sure made me scratch my head too.

Electric starting is so reliable now there is no real need for a kick starter. Bump starting is very easy if the battery dies. And yes, it also is a cost down measure.

Just make sure you carry a small jumper lead for the switch on the clutch perch and then you can clutch it ok.

No, it isn't. It's kind of like asking why your chevy suburban doesn't have a kick start or pull start. Why don't you ask a genuine question or make a helpful suggestion when you post?

Try bump-starting in the sandy desert. Kick starters will start to look very good indeed.

I agree. I did see an article that mentions it is possible with new cases, but there are no details. :(
I would not trade one for the other, but it would be nice to have both.

    Cantstunt,
I think if you read coljam's entire post you will see that he did give a reasonable response. What you mistook as a serious question is what is referred to in English 101 as sarcasm. A form of humor. Your response is a little harsh and outside the nature of this fine forum. Nevermind that you missed the serious and noteworthy element of his post.
I happened to recognize the sarcasm for what it was and found it mildly amusing. After quietly laughing to myself I finished reading his post. I am disappointed that, if you did in fact finish reading the post, you misinterpreted, the scarcasm for a serious question and further chose to fire off a scathing response to your misunderstanding. The fact that you entirely missed the point only goes to punctuate your ignorance and negative mindset.
May I suggest that you take your ignorant negative attitude to another forum (I'm sure you must know the one of which I speak) where it is apparently expected, accepted and appreciated.
You are welcome here when you can recognize humor, be polite and, as you have suggested to our brother coljam: be more constructive.
    Love (sarcasm)

I have had mine two years and I still feel for the kickstart - old habits die hard - though I now love the button even if it was installed on the wrong side.

By the way Old Dude it isn't sarcasm it is simple humour (not said sarcastically of course).

The original question from Fwsteal was answered sensibly in the same post anyway so Chill Out Cantstunt.

Chevy Suburbans should be diesel and turbocharged anyway - and there is no way I would want to kick start that.

    Hey all,
I feel the need to apologize. I learned a valuable lesson with this thread. And it has nothing to do with kick starters on the 230. None of us who are regulars on this forum like to hear it sound like some of those other generic four stroke forums.
Anyway, the next time I get my dander up about someones post and feel the need to chastise I will do so via Private Message rather than on the thread itself. Cantstunt, my apologies for berating you publically.

:) When it comes to berating, yours was very mild and actually well worded. It was Cantstunt that was out of line. Nothing wrong with PM, but what you said was on the money. No apology required.

So, I just bought a CRF150f and was wondering, is there is a way to get a kick starter for it, like a kit. I'm sure it will eliminate some lbs....
