Needle jet removeal

I've had the power up kit for some time now and I started putting it in today. Everything was going fine until I started to put in the needle. A needle jet was in the same bag, so I tried to push out the old one. It will not move. OK. Is it the same size as the old one? Do I need to remove it? And if so, how in the heck do I get it out? Do I need to punch it out? A little help PLEASE.

This link shows step by step instructions. Hope it helps

The needle jet is the same, no need to change it. Since you have the power up needle compare it to the stock needle and you will see it is fatter, it makes no sense to put a fatter needle in the same size jet.

KD,
Where the C30F (Full Power) needle changes to the straight profile is where the carby is at full throttle.
The C30F actually gets richer from idle till the mid throttle region. From there it leans back to standard at full throttle.
The Main jet size increase picks up any of the slack and comes in at 3/4 throttle anyway.
This way at higher altitudes the mixture can be lean at the top due to lack of air without resorting to small mains.
It is actually a smaller diameter that stock over the part of the needle that is used.
I know, because I spent several hours measuring it.
Johnny T,
The part is the same so unless the needle you replaced is scratched, don't bother at this stage.
To replace it you must remove the main jet holder.
From the top of carby I use a small felt tip pen that fits nicely on jet and give it(pen) a small tap from a 4 ounce hammer. Make sure you do it over a rag or it will bounce away. At least it can be changed when it is worn.
Make sure you have removed the snorkel and the exhaust baffle(leave screen to reduce fire risk).
Depending on your altitude you may find the 132 main to large.
I ride near sea level and it is ok in winter but probably be better as a 126/128 in summer.
Lots of luck have fun.

Thanks all. I've got lots of info on installing the power -up kit, but nothing is said about the needle jet. They look like the same size, but the eyes ain't what they use to be.

I'm set to go for a test ride and if it's like the drive down the driveway, I better take it easy.
Happy Trails

I also spent some time measuring and I disagree, dyno testing with exhaust gas analasis tells me what I need to know but to each his own.

I'm back.

All I can say is WOW. That little puppy can move and lots of power to go around. It's burning a little rich so I might go up one groove on the needle, but I'm at 6000ft. A rev box is next. Thanks for all your help.

It (needle Jet) is the same part as standard.
Keep the new one as a spare, they do wear over time.
Glad you enjoy it.
At 6000 ft definetly move the clip up.
Always get the clip position sorted first.
From there get your idle sorted followed by your Main Jet.
What size main are you running?

I'm running a 132 main, a 45 idle jet, power needle and a fuel screw. Got a little bit of a bog when I first open the throttle. Think my idle jet is a tad to big, but I want to get the mixture right first.

Adjust your idle mixture screw will probably get rid of bog.
If you end up much more than 2 turns out time to go to next up idle jet.
If you end up less than 1 turn out consider going down an idle jet size.
You will be suprised how much the idle affects your running especially when you get back on the throttle.
You could probably drop the main to say around 125-128 considering 6000 ft.
You will have to play around a little to see what works best for you and your bike.
Good luck
